Yes, all ESCs are calibrated before shipping, so there is no need to worry about calibrating it yourself. However, if you ever replace an ESC or motor, you must recalibrate the system again.

Yes, the sensors are calibrated upon arrival, but it is important that you recalibrate it yourself upon receiving your drone.

You would always need to recalibrate the sensors when you receive your drone and when you move location (more than 40 km / 24.8 mi from your last location). This is due to possible changes in temperature, altitude, and magnetic declination.

Recommendations and Steps to Follow:

  • Initial Calibration: Upon receiving your drone, recalibrate the sensors.
  • Location Changes: Recalibrate the sensors whenever you move the drone to a location more than 40 km (24.8 mi) from its previous operating area.

Why Recalibrate? Changes in temperature, altitude, and magnetic declination can affect sensor accuracy.

We recommend the calibration in the following order:

  1. Accelerometer: Calibrate the accelerometer first.
  2. Compass: Calibrate the compass afterward.

Important Note: Only perform sensor calibration at the intended flight location.

If your flight transmitter arrived in a separate shipment from your drone, it is not currently paired.

To pair your controller:

  1. Refer to the User Manual: Follow the specific pairing instructions outlined in your drone’s user manual.
  2. Check the FAQ: Alternatively, visit our website and consult the FAQ section for detailed pairing instructions.

Important Note: Before initiating the pairing process, ensure you have imported the model of your drone into the flight control systemM

Motor Testing with Mission Planner:

You can individually test each motor using the Mission Planner software.

  • Visual Guide: Refer to the image below for a step-by-step guide on how to perform the motor test.
  • Motor Options:
    • The example below demonstrates a 4-rotor drone, hence the “Test motor A to D” options.
    • If your drone has 6 rotors, you will see options for “Test motor A to F.”
    • For 8-rotor drones, the options will be “Test motor A to H.”

Note: Ensure your drone is connected to the Mission Planner software before proceeding with the motor test.”

Step-by-Step Guide

Before testing, it is highly recommended to remove all propellers.

Your front right motor is motor “A”. Continuing from there in a clockwise direction, you have motors B, C, D, and so on depending on the number of motors you have on your drone.

See the exact letters and motors in the images below.

How to Perform the Motor Test using the Mission Planner Software

Motor Testing Mission Planner
  1. Go to “SETUP” in Mission Planner
  2. Then go to “Optional Hardware”
  3. Then go to the section ‘Motor Test’
  4. Set the duration to 2 seconds for all drones
For X8 MAX: The throttle has to be set to 11%
For all other drones: The throttle has to be set to 9%
  5. You can now start testing the motors as you see in the image. You can check if the order and the spin directions of the motors are correct.

Takeoff Procedures:

Environmental Awareness:

  • Choose a Safe Location: Select a clear, open area free from obstructions (trees, power lines, buildings) and away from people and animals.
  • Check Wind Conditions: Avoid windy conditions that could affect the drone’s stability and control.
  • Be Mindful of Surroundings: Continuously monitor your surroundings during takeoff, flight, and landing to ensure the safety of yourself, others, and the drone.

Understand Flight Modes: Before any flight, thoroughly review the user manual to familiarize yourself with all flight modes and their respective behaviors.

  • First Flight Takeoff:
    • Loiter Mode: For your drone’s initial flight, begin in Loiter mode.
    • Arming: After arming the drone, increase the throttle to 50%. The motors will spin, but the drone will remain grounded.
    • Ascend: Gradually increase throttle to 75-85% for a controlled takeoff.
  • Hovering and Testing:
    • Once airborne, reduce the throttle to 50% and maintain a stable hover at approximately 1.5 to 2 meters (5 to 6.5 feet) above the ground.
    • Carefully maneuver the drone in all directions to assess its flight characteristics.

Important Note: If you encounter any unexpected behavior during takeoff or flight, immediately land the drone and contact our customer support for assistance.”

Accessing Flight Logs:

There are two primary methods for retrieving flight logs:

1. SD Card:

  • An SD card is inserted into your drone’s flight controller.
  • Remove the SD card from the drone.
  • Copy all files from the SD card to your computer.
  • Compress the copied files into a ZIP archive.
  • In case you want to download all flight logs, this is the fastest way to get them on your device

2. Mission Planner:

  • Connect your drone to your computer via USB.
  • Open Mission Planner.
  • Navigate to the “Data” screen on the left-hand side.
  • Select the “Data Flash Logs” tab.
  • Click “Download Data Flash Logs Via MavLink.”
  • Choose the specific flight logs you wish to download.”

The image shows you the step-by-step guide through Mission Planner on how to be able to download your flight logs

Download Flight Logs Mission Planner
  1. Click on ‘Data’ in the top left section in Mission Planner
  2. Click on the arrows to the right until you see the section ‘Data Flash Logs’
  3. Click on ‘Download Data Flash Logs via Mavlink
  4. A pop-up will come up where it will show you all the flight logs of your connected drone. In case you want to download all flight logs, you can skip this step and go to ‘5’.
  5. In case you want to download specific flight logs, select each flight log you want to download as shown in the image and click on ‘Download Selected Logs’. Your selected Flight Logs will now begin to download.

*As mentioned in “1. SD Card”, in case you want to download “All Flight Logs”, it’s more convenient to download them directly from the SD card onto your device.

NOTE:
Your logs will be saved to  your computer on the Log Path set on this screen

  1. Click on ‘Config’ in the top left section in Mission Planner
  2. Open the Section ‘Planner’
  3. Click on ‘Log Path’ and Select your profile location of saving on the device
